INDIO — Today, Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez (R-Indio) announced the introduction of Assembly Bill X1-13 to the Special Session of the California State Assembly. This bill would ensure that the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is considering all major sources of emissions when developing solutions to our climate crisis.
“California’s recent wildfires have been among the most devastating on record, with over 7.1 million acres burned between 2020 and 2023 alone,” said Assemblyman Gonzalez. “These fires have released staggering amounts of carbon dioxide and particulate matter into the atmosphere. Yet, CARB’s current framework for greenhouse gas emissions overlooks wildfire emissions, leaving a critical source of climate impact unaddressed.”
