Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez Statement on Being Appointed as Vice Chair of Assembly Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs

INDIO – Today, Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez (R-Indio), a 21-year U.S. Marine Corps combat veteran who served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, issued the following statement on being appointed Vice Chair of the California State Assembly Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs:

“It’s an honor to step into this role—not just as a legislator, but as someone who has stood shoulder to shoulder with those who’ve worn the uniform. This committee plays a critical role in how California supports our military members, veterans, and their families. I’ve lived that life. I know the sacrifices, and I know the gaps that still need to be closed.

As Vice Chair, I intend to be a voice for my brothers and sisters who don’t always speak up for themselves—and to work across the aisle to ensure our policies reflect the values of honor, courage, and commitment that define our military community.”
