SACRAMENTO, CA — Today, Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez (R-Indio) has been appointed by Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas to serve on the Assembly Health Committee, giving California’s 36th Assembly District a voice on some of the state’s most important healthcare issues.
“As a disabled veteran, the father of a son with severe disabilities, and the representative of a large rural district, healthcare is deeply personal to me,” said Assemblyman Gonzalez. “I am grateful to Speaker Rivas for this appointment and proud that our district will have a seat at the table. I look forward to advocating for individuals with disabilities, veterans, seniors, working families, and the rural communities that too often get overlooked in Sacramento.”
“The healthcare decisions made in Sacramento impact every family in California,” Gonzalez said. “I am ready to get to work and ensure our communities have a strong voice in those conversations.”
Throughout his time in the Legislature, Gonzalez has been a strong advocate for protecting IHSS, supporting individuals with disabilities and their families, and strengthening access to healthcare in underserved communities. He has also fought to secure resources for rural hospitals that serve as lifelines throughout Riverside, Imperial, and San Bernardino Counties.
