Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez’s Rural Farmworker Women’s Health Act Advances Out of Assembly Public Health Committee

SACRAMENTO, CA — Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez (R–Indio) announced today that AB 2082, the Rural Farmworker Women’s Health Act of 2026, has passed out of the Assembly Public Health Committee with bipartisan support. The measure, sponsored by Inland Congregations Untied for Change, addresses a critical gap in access to basic women’s health necessities for farmworker communities.

The bill addresses a critical need in California’s agricultural communities, where many farmworker women lack access to basic feminine hygiene products due to cost, distance, and long work hours.

“Farmworker women are essential to California’s success, yet too many lack access to basic health necessities,” said Assemblyman Gonzalez. “Feminine hygiene products are not a luxury—they are essential. This bill is about dignity, health, and doing what’s right.”

AB 2082 directs the California Department of Public Health to partner with local nonprofits to distribute free feminine hygiene products in rural and agricultural areas, prioritizing communities most in need.

The bill now heads to the Assembly Appropriations Committee.
