SACRAMENTO, CA — Today, Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez (R-Indio) announced the Assembly passage of four bipartisan bills focused on supporting Californians with permanent disabilities, expanding relief for disabled veterans, acknowledging youth caregivers and strengthening economic opportunities for rural communities.
The Assembly approved AB 1925, AB 2022, AB 1756 and AB 2324 with bipartisan support, advancing each measure to the California State Senate for consideration.
The legislation includes:
- AB 1925 — Requires a feasibility study on creating a statewide permanent disability certification program to reduce repetitive paperwork and improve access to services for Californians living with permanent disabilities.
- AB 2022 — Expands California’s property tax exemption for disabled veterans by increasing tax relief for veterans with service-connected disabilities and qualifying surviving spouses.
- AB 1756 — Extends the City of Needles’ off-highway vehicle pilot program to support tourism, outdoor recreation, and economic activity in rural communities.
- AB 2324 — Requires the state to consider adding the role of youth caregivers to existing Healthcare and Human Services career cluster within the Personal Care and Services career pathway.
“Today’s votes were about putting people first,” said Assemblyman Gonzalez. “These bipartisan bills support veterans, families living with disabilities, caregivers and rural communities by cutting red tape, strengthening economic opportunity, and delivering practical solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives.”
All four measures now move to the California State Senate for further consideration.
